A meditation:
Monday, November 30, 2009, the healthcare debacle will be "debated" again by uninformed career politicians who have no real care for the hapless sheep they think they rule (and herd and push around) and from whom they plan to harvest more fleece and meat. Those who do care are out-voted, ignored or shouted down, and are in the minority, seemingly powerless.
It is hard to discern where all this is going to go. Perhaps it will be stopped; perhaps they will pull it off. Either way, I am set for the defense of the Gospel, come what may. For that pure motive, I am partially beholden to the prevaricator in chief - Obama, who has galvanized me among so many others to think through the issues to their logical and spiritual conclusion.
That was no small task, considering the sad spiritual state of the church in America. Who would have thought that a sleeping nation might be awakened in its final hours?
Today, I awoke with a strange determination in my breast that whichever way it goes, I am not giving up, even though the mountains be carried into the midst of the seas, and all the waves and billows may seem to be overflowing me. Our God reigneth, and He laughs in the heavens at the efforts of those who hate Him. The Lord shall have them in derision and vex them in His sore displeasure.
The Lyrics of this song have long been my heart's favorite, especially when I consider our times.
"Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below."
Every generation has its challenge; we are in the very midst of ours. The reach of the God-haters toward world domination and the destruction of the people of God is proceeding apace; yet none of this has escaped the notice or control of He that sitteth in the Heavens. The waves of the sea - the heathen - may churn and boil, but they still know the voice of Him who ruled them while He dwelt below. Precious! One little word shall fell them.
I have great hope: the stand of only a few, even one man who refuses to bow to the world's golden image may still prove to change the king’s word. It may take "yielding our bodies." The result may well be stupendous in the eyes of a watching world. Either way, bring it on!
I pray this would be the result: Dan 3:28 “Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.“
Let's do our part, giving the glory to God; and let God do His work, His strange work; His strange Act, in the hearts of Men. To Him be the Glory.
