One of the great lines in the movie "Kindergarten Cop" is Schwarzenegger breaking into a drug den, smashing the place up, and saying "I'm the Party Pooper."
I suggest that a number of Democrats, some known as the "Blue Dogs" and perhaps a number of other uncomfortable, but unlabelled types from conservative districts, might find a way out of the dilemma they find themselves in with this "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" attack on the American political center in the name of health care "reform".
They could switch parties and vote against it with clear consciences and among friends.
To be sure, the wrath from the Liberal press and the Chicago thug machine run by Raum Emmanuel and Speaker Pelosi will be high-decibel, promising dire retribution, but in fact, what can the soon-to-be-crippled Democratic Caucus do once a elected official has broken firmly from Democrat control and joined the Republican Party?
The problem the Blue Dogs have is that they are in the position of a Sunday school class kidnapped by a bunch of thugs and taken to some wretched roadside strip joint for a "fun party". The scene is not fun; this is not what they went to Sunday School for, and they are distinctly uncomfortable, finding themselves partnered with pimps and whores and a bunch of drunken lushes who are so out of their minds that all they care about is the next drink. They are dismayed to discover that they, like Dorothy, are not "in Kansas any more”.
The solution for them is simple. They will be welcomed with open arms by the Republican Caucus, and they will have escaped the economic bribery and threats of the Democrat machine by abandoning a doomed ship before it hits the reef in November. All the money in the world is not going to spare this particular group of Representatives from the wrath of the voters - especially those voters who foolishly voted for a "change" they now find thoroughly noxious. Their only hope is to distance themselves from the suicidal Democrats under Pelosi and Obama. They, of all people, are doomed if they stay Democrat.
Also, simply voting against the legislation will not save them. They won’t get any help in November from the DNC because they were labeled “turncoats” for not rolling over on command when Pelosi called their number. No, simply voting against the bill won’t solve their problem.
For a Liberal Congressman, such a tactic probably won't work very well, because the awakened voters can smell a hypocrite a mile off now, and will likely jettison them in November no matter what party label they wear. But real conservatives presently wearing a Democrat tag might well find very cordial company in the Republican ranks after they put that tag in the trashcan where it belongs and sew on a new "Republican" identification. They are likely to see such an outpouring of gratitude from the voters who elected them to do the right thing that they might find themselves a shoo-in in November. That has to be a pleasant thought.
Pelosi bragged recently "Kick open that door, and there will be other legislation to follow. We'll take the country in a new direction." It is surprising she would be so candid about her intentions.
Democrat Blue Dogs listen up: there is more, and much worse, to follow. Your Sunday School class is about to get propositioned by an old whore named Nancy, and she won't takn no for an answer. Giving in to her now will only lead to more horrors in the future.
It is time to leave the Dem's sordid party and become the Party Poopers of all time by solidly snatching any possibility of passing this noxious so-called "health care reform" bill out of Nancy Pelosi's hands - and Obama's - and giving your constitutuents the kind of representative that they really wanted when they elected you.
Any takers?
