I received this in an email recently. "Author Unknown." I could wish I had said the following so plainly and so simply.
""The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."
This echoes the words of our founders, who reiterated that this government was made only for a moral and religious (ie: sincerely Christian) people. It is wholly inadequate for any other. We have a large segment of the population who are morally corrupt, preferring to use the government to steal from others who earn, to transfer to them benefits they have not earned.
Perhaps Barack Hussein Obama is a blessing in disguise. We would have gone plodding down the slower road to Socialism with McCain as president, as we did with Bush and Clinton and Bush Sr. Even Reagan was not able to stem the growth of this runaway government. The measures taken were too slight. Obama is waking up a large number of people who had no idea what kind of "change" they were voting for when they pulled the lever for him.
Perhaps the problem is not that of government at all, but as the author of the quote above indicates, it is the corrupt people of America. The growth of government may actually be an accurate chart of the moral decay of the American people. If that is the case, maybe a rough awakening of the remainder of us who are responsible citizens may spur us to take action before it is too late. It does not take a majority, even, only an energized and vocal minority, to turn things around. Jesus left twelve apostles. Look what he accomplished through them.
Otherwise, this ship of fools - this confedracy of fools - is doomed to destruction and a status as a third-rate nation.I don't want to leave the country and culture I love to my grandchildren so burdened with thuggery and political favoritism that everybody except the elite live like pigs.

I'm not so sure fool is the proper terminology. Ayn Rand preferred 'looter' and I believe it fits; You have a sub-culture looting the government for their own enrichment. They cannot be identified by party, politics or religion but their action stand out. Many, perhaps, even believe they are doing good. Still, I am reminded of a variation of the Peter Principle that people do what is rewarded and when you see large groups of people doing foolish things, they are doing it for a reason.
